That’s a simple definition of a very complex issue.
The United Nations defines sustainability as “development that meets
the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future
generations to meet their own needs.” Some time ago, we determined
that a meaningful contribution to that endeavor demanded that we
focus on defining realistic and achievable goals — and meet them
— while continuing to evaluate and incorporate effective, evolving
cleaning technology. At Aslan’s, ‘sustainability’ is more than just
a feel-good buzzword. Our efforts to embrace this vital concept are
real.
Fortunately, excellent and thoroughly informed instruction is available
through reputable sources. The U.S. Green Building Council and the
Healthy Schools Campaign training programs have helped us expand
some of our existing efforts and create new ones that address old
issues.

Some of the successful strategies we employ include careful training
and staff education; the use of ionizing cleaners, microfiber cleaning
materials, low moisture cleaning, portion control dispensing systems,
high level vacuum filtration systems; and integrating Green Seal
Certified cleaning chemicals and equipment in our processes. We design,
implement and manage recycling programs as well.
Our efforts result in lower emissions; a reduced dependence on water
for cleaning and laundry; a significant contribution to healthier
environments in the facilities we clean; a reduced reliance on fossil
fuels; less overall waste; and reduced volatile organic compounds
in our client facilities.
Careful management of our client resources remains a hallmark of
our success.
